Lean Phase Pneumatic Conveying Systems

Lean phase pneumatic conveying systems are a method used for conveying non-fragile and non-abrasive powder and granular materials over short distances.

The pneumatic conveying line is pressurized with air produced by a blower, and the material is discharged into the conveying line in a controlled manner by an auxiliary equipment called a rotary valve. The conveying air is much denser than the conveyed material, so the material is transferred at high speed (≥25 m/s) from the discharge point to the target point. The material is transferred in a low-density state, suspended in the air inside the conveying line.

As indicated by the brief description above, dilute phase pneumatic conveying systems can be used in various industrial processes for transferring powder and granular materials. The initial investment cost is lower compared to dense phase pneumatic conveying systems. Depending on preferences and process requirements, transfer can occur under positive pressure or vacuum. In processes where dilute phase pneumatic conveying systems will be used, the sensitivity of the conveyed material to temperature, humidity, oil, and oxygen are crucial factors. It is more beneficial to obtain this information from the manufacturer and determine the conveying method afterwards.

Advantages of Lean Phase Pneumatic Conveying Systems :

  • Lower initial investment cost,

  • No issues such as dusting and leakage,

  • Ensures workplace safety through transfer in a closed pipeline,

  • Can be designed to transfer to multiple points,

  • Lower maintenance costs compared to screw and conveyor systems.
